Resident Evil VIllage, is the direct follow-up to Resident Evil 7 and the next game in the Resident Evil series. The name takes a different approach to what we’re used to seeing for Resident Evil games, often utilizing an RE# style to indicate a sequel. Developer and publisher Capcom have insisted on the current format to emphasize the importance of the village at the heart of the game.

Our first look at Resident Evil VIllage was during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event back in June. Very little was actually revealed in the trailer but we did get a glimpse at the eerie European setting, details on the characters, and how it’s connected to the previous games.

We have only been given a few glimpses of Resident Evil VIllage since the June 2020 reveal. From the trailer, it looks to have a dark, almost fairytale-like tone to it. We’re talking witches, werewolves, the works. Resident Evil VIllage will see the return of Ethan Winters, Mia Winters, and Chris Redfield.

We also got a bit more information from the second trailer which debuted during the Tokyo Game Show.

It has not yet been confirmed if Resident Evil VIllage will have a multiplayer option. As of right now all we have is speculation stemming from the release of Resident Evil Resistance, which did have multiplayer. We cannot rule out the possibility that VIllage will too. There has been a leak which hinted at the possibility of a Battle Royale mode but nothing official has been given by Capcom.

Seeing as we have very little information on the base game, it’s way too early to tell what, if any DLC will be coming to Resident Evil VIllage. Chances are, that if there isn’t a multiplayer mode then the likelihood of microtransactions is almost nil. Again, we’ll need more official information before providing you the answers.

A launch date is yet to be given for the release, however, the window for release is supposed to be some time in 2021. Nothing official has been provided publicly, but a recent leak points to a possible launch of April 2021. Unfortunately, at this time, verification of this information is not possible, so we’ll have to wait for Capcom’s official statement regarding release.

Next-gen console owners will be pleased that Resident Evil VIllage will be coming out for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as well as PC. During a Tokyo Game SHow stream, it was hinted that Capcom is working on previous-gen PS4 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. However, it’s not set in stone that it will be released alongside the next-gen versions, or at all for that matter.

As far as minimum and required PC system specs are concerned, no information has come to light. We assume an update is imminent, especially given the potential for an April 2021 release.
