Rare is releasing a HD version of GoldenEye 007 for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles on Friday. The studio is also introducing a remaster of the original for the Nintendo Switch. The Xbox title will get achievements, run at 4k resolution and offer “smoother frame rates,” according to the developer. Then again, the version for the Nintendo Switch gets full support for online multiplayer, while the one for the Xbox only supports split-screen multiplayer with up to four players.

Rare announced back in September last year that GoldenEye will be available for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles. However, the company did not mention a release date at that time, saying only that the game would be available “soon. The game will appear on the Switch as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription. For Xbox players, the title will be available through Game Pass and for users who own Rare Replay. It is not known if the game will also go on sale separately on the Xbox platform.
