Can villagers take dropped items?

Not the animals-- only your other playable characters can pick up stuff. (for ex- if you knock the $ rock and leave the $ on the ground & save the game, then your sister gets on and plays as her character-- she can pick up the money you left!) But not the other villagers.

Can Minecraft villagers take your stuff?
