Can you wash a fursuit?

We recommend using a front-load washing machine, but a top-load agitator washing machine should do the trick if it's large enough to accommodate your entire body. Set the machine to COLD. Run the spin cycle twice to get as much water out of the body as possible, removing the body between spin cycles to reposition it.

Can you put a fursuit head in the washing machine?

This machine can work on any part of your fursuit. We do recommend however saving it for items you cannot submerge like heads, some feet paws, and some tails. If a piece can be machine washed, please do so! If the inside of your mask is not foam, please use above information for cleaning the inside.

Can fursuits get wet?

If you do not have access to a washing machine, or if your fursuit is too large to fit inside of one, draping the wet suit over some plastic crates or chairs in the tub with a fan will help get the suit dry enough to hang. Does water damage faux fur?

With real fur, both water and heat will damage the product, but faux fur is made of synthetic fibers, so water doesn't damage it, but heat still does. Avoid using heat on your furs (with one exception being steaming, but we'll get to that in a bit). It is safe to wash your faux furs in the washing machine.

How long can a fursuit last?

As with any investment, fursuits require proper care and some maintenance along the way in their use. With proper care taken, your fursuit will last you many years.

How do furries clean their fursuits?

Mix water with a small amount of soap/detergent, and saturate a small towel. Use the towel to sponge the inside of the head, squeezing the soapy water in thoroughly. Saturate a fresh small towel with clean water and sponge inside the head to rinse out the soapy water. Repeat if necessary.
