Dawnbreaker is litterally the Bane of the Undead in the form of a Daedric Artifact. If you're a vampire or vampire lord while using Dawnbreaker, do expect to take some damage when it triggers an explosion when you kill an enemy undead (draugr, vampire, skeleton, etc.)

Can I join the Dawnguard as a vampire?

Joining the Dawnguard is generally seen as the “good” option out of the two Dawnguard gives you, but Isran will (obviously and understandably) not work with you if you are a vampire yourself. He'll tell you to find a cure and won't work with you until you do so.

It's possible to cure Serana of her vampirism after finishing the Dawnguard DLC. You can bring Serana to Falion, who resides in Morthal, and he can cure her of her vampirism by performing a ritual; you can also do this for your character if you wish to cure your own vampirism.

Serana is OLD. The Era in which Durneviir was captured by the Ideal Masters, the rulers of the Soul Cairn, was the Merethic Era, and that happened around 2500 years ago, so 4000 would be an okay estimate for Serana's age.
