Is survival useless Wasteland 3?

I've found that this is by far the most worthless skill in the game. I have a dude with it maxed but it's never used. Afaik there are no impactful skillchecks for Survival. The bonus damage to animals and mutants are pretty worthless since you'll be fighting robots and humans most of the time.
