Real (i.e. Level D) Flight Simulators are expensive to build because they use real versions of a lot of the hardware on the Flight Deck. Being Flight Hardware, this is not surprisingly very expensive. However, this on its own would not be sufficient to cause them to be more expensive than the actual plane.
