Why is OTB chess harder than online?

I think it's just that there's a difference in attitude in OTB that isn't present in any on-line play; your opponent is in front of you, you can see him thinking, and that affects how you play (some times for the good). You can't duplicate that through a moniter.

For most players looking to improve at OTB chess, I recommend spending one day per week rotating between openings, strategy, and endgames. As your rating approaches 1700+, this can be expanded out to two days per week. To compensate for the additional time on studying, you can cut back a bit on the tactics training.

Are the chess com bots easier than their rating?

It's hard to emulate what a 1200 rated human would actually know about chess in a bot. Therefore, there will be some obvious loopholes in the bot's thinking process that make it somewhat easier to beat than a similarly-rated opponent. This is all to get the bot's rating level to the level that you're aiming for.
