Is the Babadook ok for 12 year olds?

Depends on the kid...
This was a very well done film and extra scary, (disclaimer: I don't usually watch many horror films). My 12-year-old daughter and I watched it together and even though I had misgivings about watching a film like that with her, the fact that it was so well done overrode some of the doubts I had.

Can a 13 year old watch The Babadook?

The Babadook itself is a manifestation of things we fear, feel, and suffer through. There isn't much blood or strong language, but it is on the more frightening side of movies compared to The Witches or Oz, so we would recommend this as a family watch with older children and teens.

Can a 12 year old watch scary movie?

My honest opinion for children

I recommend this 13+ as long as they are mature enough, during sex scenes I would look away just as they can easily too. If your kids know what the jokes in the movie means then they are old enough to watch it, if they find it entertaining/funny which is the purpose of watching the movie.

Is The Babadook even scary?

The monster is creepy as heck, and you don't see it for at least an hour, building your suspense. It's really fine film making. It's not particularly gory, full of body horror (which I don't care for), or over-saturated with jump scares. It's just a good, solid, scarefest.

Signs (Rated PG-13)

What is this? Poltergeist (Rated PG) This is a good movie to start with if you want to gauge your kid's ability to handle scary stuff! The effects are super 80s which we think makes the impact a little comical compared to a more recent film.

Is The Babadook kid friendly?

A little on the nose at times but a fantastic allegory for grief and our experience of mortality through the eyes of both mother and child. I wouldn't say it's inappropriate for kids under 16, but I do think some of the nuances wouldn't quite hit right for most young to mid-teens.

Does Babadook have jumpscares?

Because it slowly fills you with dread throughout the whole film, "The Babadook" only utilizes one major jump scare (around the 47-minute mark). Easily one of the best horror movies in recent history — maybe of all time — this depressing look at parenting a troubled child will stay with you long after watching.

We'd say no when it comes to kids under 10 watching Stranger Things 4. It's scary and not kid-friendly in the least! And we'd highly suggest waiting for your children to be 12 and older before letting them watch this season. TV-14 seems a pretty good rating for this one.
