Destiny 2: Beyond Light has been a pretty decent expansion, all things considered. It does however, lack in one major area: gear. Namely weapons, as there are a mountain of player complaints surrounding this particular issue. The lack of available gear drops while cruising through the new content has put a damper on the overall enjoyment of Beyond Light.

Bungie has addressed the negative feedback with a band aid solution of bringing back older gear. In the most recent weekly blog post, Bungie has said that some old guns are going to be put back into the gear rotation.

Though not a long-term fix, the addition is welcome and does offer up some help in the form of drops. The newer gear hasn’t necessarily been more fun or as strong as those that came before, so I can get behind this “fix”, if for but a short time.

Bungie plans to remove all legendary weapons that hit their infusion cap at the end of this season, and add all of the Seventh Seraph weapons from Season 10, all of the Season 11 seasonal and planetary reprisal weapons, and then weigh the drop chances so that newer items are more likely to drop over older ones.

Removing obsolete weapons and weighing the drop rates to favor newer loot over old is a great step in the right direction. But this solution does not resolve the underlying issue that the loot pool still remains quite shallow. Aside from exotics, most of the weapons fall pretty flat in the fun factor making collecting them feel rather lackluster, and virtually pointless.

With the recent completion of the Deep Stone Crypt Raid, new content has been opened up for all players, which included additional pieces of gear, even some exotics. Let’s hope this can hold disgruntled players over long enough for Bungie to work things out on their end.
