To first catch a ghost, you must find where they may be most active. Abandoned buildings are a gold mine for paranormal activity, as are, for some reason, suburban homes with really tacky décor. In Phasmophobia, the locations at your disposal span both, offering expansive venues and tight corridors for the most prolific ghost hunters to explore.

If you’re just starting out, though, you may find even the smallest map intimidating. To help guide you through the many locations of Phasmophobia, we’ve compiled this guide. As of posting, there are seven maps – five small, one medium, and one large. An eighth recently went into beta, and we’ll cover what we know so far.

It’s time to break out your trusty ghost hunter notebook so you can jot down the must-know information about Phasmophobia’s haunted maps.

Small Maps

Bleasdale Farmhouse

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 1
  • How Many Floors?
    • 3
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 8 on Floor 1
    • 7 on Floor 2
    • Attic
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Off the Foyer
    • In the Garage
    • Off the First Floor Hallway
    • In the Living Room
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key

Consider the Bleasdale Farmhouse to be the “beginner’s” map of Phasmophobia. It’s the smallest, making it the easiest to escape from when things get a little dicey. With one camera, an easily accessible Circuit Breaker in the garage, and an attic space made for ghostly activity, Bleasdale provides amateur hunters with the challenge they need to improve their skills and move onto bigger properties.

Edgefield Street House

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 2
  • How Many Floors?
    • 3
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 7 on Floor 1
    • 11 on Floor 2
    • 2 in the Basement
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Front Door
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door
    • Garage
    • Basement
    • Car

A sizable estate, the Edgefield residence is a great intermediate haunt. Though the 19 rooms may seem imposing, they actually come in handy. When the specter enters its Hunt Phase, you’ll have plenty of places to duck away in and hide. However, the tight hallways are an impedance and can cause a backup if you and your team don’t coordinate properly. Use the congested space to your advantage with a perfectly placed video camera.

The Circuit Breaker is tucked away in the basement, which can be an unfortunate spot to get trapped in by an angry ghost.

Grafton Farmhouse

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 2
  • How Many Floors?
    • 2
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 8 on Floor 1
    • 5 on Floor 2
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • In the Living Room
    • Off the Foyer
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key

The ‘ole Grafton place isn’t incredibly imposing. With no basement or attic in this rustic farmhouse, you have little space to cover. The living room on the first floor provides access to every room, so you have a hub to meet up in should things get a little wonky.

Circuit Breakers can be found in the storage room on the second floor or back on the first floor in the workshop and master bedroom closet. Be careful in areas like the master bathroom and master bedroom closet, as you may find yourself trapped in the event of a Hunt.

Ridgeview Farmhouse

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 2
  • How Many Floors?
    • 3
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 9 on Floor 1
    • 6 on Floor 2
    • Basement
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Off the Foyer
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key
    • Garage Key

From its chaotic layout to relatively larger size, the Ridgeview Farmhouse may not be the best place to go ghost hunting. But, you’re here already, so you might as well! The first thing you’ll notice is how claustrophobic everything is. Outside of the basement, garage, living room, and kitchen/dining room, the home is incredibly cramped. That makes it more difficult to escape the bedrooms and bathrooms during a ghost’s Hunt Phase.

There are a few places to hide, like the master bedroom closet, upstairs and downstairs bathroom, and the small utility closet off the kitchen. Circuit Breakers can be found in the basement and garage, but not in very convenient locations.

Be careful in this abode. It’s very easy to get separated and lost, especially during your first run.

Tanglewood Street House

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 1
  • How Many Floors?
    • 2
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 10 on Floor 1
    • Basement
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Off the Foyer
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key
    • Garage Key
    • Car Key
    • Basement Key

As the tutorial map for Phasmophobia, you can expect Tanglewood to be a bit easier. It’s a single-story home with a somewhat small basement and just enough rooms to be a marginal nuisance. Tanglewood is unique in that just about everything is stacked on one side of the house. From the spare bedroom up to the master bedroom, you’ll find everything to the left of the main entrance.

Circuit breakers are pretty convenient in the garage and basement, not far from the entrances to these open spaces. You’re never really far from Tanglewood’s main entrance, which is fantastic for a quick escape once you have your evidence.

Medium Maps

Brownstone High School

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 3
  • How Many Floors?
    • 2
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 34 on Floor 1
    • 33 on Floor 2
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Off the Lobby on Floor 1
    • In the West Hallway, near CR 12 and CR 3
    • In the West Hallway, near CR 17 and CR 2
    • In the East Hallway, near CR 1 and CR 11
    • In the East Hallway, near CR 5 and CR 6
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key

There is a pretty drastic jump from small to large maps in Phasmophobia. Scouring the school is no easy feat and absolutely should not be done alone. Long hallways with a host of rooms to explore await in this two-story establishment. Though it may not sound like a convenient location to investigate, its square layout and accessibility actually make it easy to escape a ghost during its Hunt Phase.

On the first floor, the hallways connect to the basketball court, so you can go in a circle without issue. The second story may not have that large central room, but each hall empties into an accompanying corridor.

When the power goes out, head to the staircases off either the right or left wings on the first floor. If you’re on the second floor, check out the storage rooms on the school’s northwest and northeast ends.

Prison

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 3
  • How Many Floors?
    • 2
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 19 on Floor 1
    • 12 on Floor 2
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Entrance
    • Off the A Block Hallway on Floor 1
    • Off the B Block Hallway on Floor 1
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key

The prison is still only available in beta, so a lot is sure to change. All you need to know for now is that it’s large, with two wings full of jail cells and little nooks and crannies. The second-floor cell blocks are only available from the first-floor cell blocks, so it’s quite possible to become very separated from your team.

Large Maps

Asylum

  • Suggested Team Size
    • 4
  • How Many Floors?
    • 2
  • How Many Rooms?
    • 78 on Floor 1
    • 43 in the Basement
  • Where Are the Exits?
    • Lobby
  • Discoverable Keys
    • Main Door Key

Here is where all of your ghost hunting knowledge and skills will come in handy. The asylum is the first and only large map in Phasmophobia, and it’s scary to think what other massive venues the team at Kinetic Games may have in mind. You can’t do this map alone. Or even with two people, for that matter, and you absolutely want to bring Sanity Pills with you.

The worst part about the asylum is that there is one entrance on the first floor in the center of the building. With long hallways and a ton of rooms lining them, exploring the asylum should scare you. You’ll definitely want the Strong Flashlight and it will be worth cheating a little with global chat.

Should the spirit get the best of the aged power system, Circuit Breaks can be found in the two first floor storage rooms near the entrance of each wing. In the basement, there’s one in the middle machine room, in the left and right machine rooms near the start of each corridor, in the storage room near the end of the left corridor, and in the storage room about halfway down the right corridor.
